W24 LinkLoom help

Answers to common questions, and how to reach us if something isn't working.

Getting started

  1. Install LinkLoom from the Chrome Web Store (Chrome 110 or later) and pin it to the toolbar.
  2. Open the website you want to check and click the LinkLoom button.
  3. Confirm the site address and click Analyze this site. A results tab opens.
  4. Chrome asks once to let LinkLoom read that site. Click Allow access.
  5. When the crawl finishes, review the suggestions. Use Show on page, Copy link HTML or Download CSV.

Troubleshooting

Chrome keeps asking for permission

LinkLoom asks once per site, the first time you analyse it. If you clicked Deny, run the analysis again and click Allow access. You can remove access any time from chrome://extensions › LinkLoom › Details › Site access.

Pages show as “could not check”

The page timed out, returned a server error (5xx) or was rate limited (429) even after retries. LinkLoom never lists these as broken. Lower Requests at once in Crawl settings and click Re-run.

“Almost no readable text” or very few suggestions

The pages are probably built with JavaScript. Set Crawl settings › JavaScript pages to Auto (the default) or Always and re-run. Very slow apps may need Always or a second run, because Chrome can slow down background tabs.

Some pages are missing from the results

Without a sitemap, LinkLoom can only find pages that something links to. Add missing pages under Crawl settings › Extra URLs, one per line. Use Skip URLs containing to leave out tag or author archives.

The crawl is slow or the tab freezes on a huge site

Set Max pages to crawl, or click Stop and use what was found to analyse what has been crawled so far. Very large sites are limited by your computer's memory.

“Show on page” doesn't highlight anything

The page may have changed since the crawl, or it is still building with JavaScript. LinkLoom retries for a few seconds; if it still can't find the phrase, re-run the analysis.

My site blocks crawlers in robots.txt

LinkLoom respects robots.txt. For a site you own, tick Ignore robots.txt in Crawl settings.

How do I clear saved settings?

Priority pages, crawl settings and Done/Dismissed marks are saved per site in your browser. Removing the extension deletes them.
